Meet the Artists

Jennifer A. Zabelsky, soprano, has performed opera, musical theatre, and oratorio roles across the United States and throughout Europe. Some of her most notable stage roles include Gilda in Rigoletto, Elisetta in Il Matrimonio Segreto, Monica in The Medium, Mrs. Nordstrom in A Little Night Music, and Lily in The Secret Garden. She joined Michigan Opera Theatre in its 2015-2016 season to perform in their productions of La Bohème, The Passenger, and Macbeth. She has been a guest soloist with the Reno Chamber Orchestra and the Reno Philharmonic on many occasions. Her most recent appearance with the RCO was as the soprano soloist for Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass under the baton of Theodore Kuchar.

Dr. Zabelsky was the Nevada State and Southwest Division winner, and a National Finalist in the 2002 MTNA Voice Competition. An educator as well as a performer, she is currently part of the voice faculty at Newton Music Academy, was a voice instructor at Boston University and the Community College of Allegheny County in Pittsburgh, PA, and currently teaches in her private voice studio in Boston. Jennifer has had the opportunity to give recent masterclasses at the Saarburg International Music Festival in Germany and at the University of Nevada, Reno. She joined Really Spicy Opera in its 2014-2015 season to sing the part of Fiona in The Frat Party, a production that she also musically directed. She returned in the 2015-2016 season to musically direct The Clever Artifice of Harriet and Margaret at the 2015 Minnesota Fringe Festival.

In the summer of 2017, Dr. Zabelsky sang at the Bologna International Opera Academy, for which she was awarded at grant from Euro Atlantic Art Foundation to further her language and performance knowledge of Italian opera. In Spring of 2018, she covered the role of Alice in Lowell House Opera's production of Le Comte Ory, and sang the role of Venus in Longwood Opera's production of Orphee aux enfers in Fall of 2018. Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Nevada, a Master of Music degree from Duquesne University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Boston University, all of which are in Vocal Performance.
