Meet the Artists

Katharine DeBoer, soprano, has recently returned to her native Vermont following 20 years as Director of Vocal Studies in the Department of Music at the University of Nevada, Reno. In that capacity she created a program in applied voice that expanded academic and performance opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, and collaborated in projects with the Departments of Foreign Languages, Theater, and Dance.

A graduate of the University of Vermont, Dr. DeBoer earned her masters and doctoral degrees in vocal performance at the University of Illinois, where she studied with Mark Elyn and was winner of the Gunsalus Competition in Voice. With coach and renowned accompanist, John Wustman, she performed on the 1990-1997 US tour of the complete songs of Franz Schubert. DeBoer has received critical acclaim for her appearances as soloist with choral societies, orchestras, and opera companies from New England to California. A skilled performer of chamber music, she has performed with the Argenta Quartet, the Chamber Music Society of Sacramento, and the Telluride Chamber Music Festival. Her international credits include the Casals Festival in Puerto Rico, and recitals in Austria, Germany, Slovakia, and Poland. Katharine enchanted Madrigal Dinner 2017 audiences with her portrayal of Abbess Audrey.

Katharine teaches voice and maintains a studio at her home in Bradford.
