Meet the Artists
Phil Brown, tenor, earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Boston University. Phil has been involved in various aspects of church music his entire life. He served as music director at South Congregational Church in St. Johnsbury, VT, where directed the choral, handbell and instrumental ministry for over 30 years. Phil is also manager and music director for St. J. Jazz, an arts organization dedicated to supporting the live performance of traditional and classic jazz in northern New England. Phil performs across many genres including classical tenor soloist with North Country Chorus as well as weddings, funerals and worship; jazz bassist and vocalist with Maple Leaf Seven, Swing North Big Band and his own jazz trio; folk guitarist and vocalist; and music director for the Danville Town Band. Phil represents Malmark Handbells in VT and NY and has been a frequent clinician and instructor at local, state, regional, and national handbell workshops and festivals. In his "spare" time Phil is employed as payroll and human resources specialist at St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab Center.
